Summary
Expressing concern about the logistics of Ivory making it to India in time for their planned joint holiday at Juhu Beach, and offering some contingencies; voicing her irritation at Merchant's tendency to boast about future projects that will not come to fruition: "He talks to anyone, just simply anyone, to tell them how he's going to shoot this film, that film, all of them of course going to start within a couple of weeks. I find this so maddening, I can't tell you"; speculating on why Merchant does this and scolding Ivory for letting him do it; voicing exasperation at his latest idea, "[t]o start a men's magazine. Really! I heard about it through Jennifer, whom he has apparently offered a job"; asking again if Ivory will bring her a housecoat from the States-- "Very cool, non-transparent, smallest size?"; saying she doesn't need any more records, that she has all she needs, but would appreciate a new phonograph needle; announcing "Novel finished. Exhausted. Drained. Feeling useless, irritable and fanatically anti-social. Shall we really see you soon?"
