Reacting to the news in Ivory's telegram of March 31, of Columbia's refusal to accept the deal proposed by the Indian government and the MPEAA for the distribution of "The Householder" in India; outlining next steps, including sending a letter from Dutt to the Reserve Bank; advising Ivory on the script work for "Shakespeare Wallah" and asking him to help raise money with friends and acquaintances in New York; relating that he visited Madhur Jaffrey's children yesterday, and that Madhur's father will invest in their next film; saying he is leaving Delhi for Bombay tomorrow, and debating taking a trip to Madras; thinking it will be several more months before Ivory can return to India.
