Summary
Saying there is much she likes in Ivory's redraft of the script for "Shakespeare Wallah," yet she is "dismayed" by the fact that he seems to have destroyed the entire structure that they had built so carefully; stating that "to make Sanju a film star is a disaster" and explaining why; arguing against "the Bee-Aslam" thing; saying she very much likes the idea of an Indian film star character, and describing the woman and who she feels would be best to play her (Madhur Jaffrey); continuing to lay out scenes and characters and plot points; asking Ivory to think about what she has said and when they can come to an agreement, she will write another draft; picking up the letter the following day (April 1); saying they (she, Jhab, and Merchant) received a telegram from Ivory after she finished writing the letter the previous day; describing their mood swings after reading it, and how it seemed to energize Jhab-- who used the news to frighten the MPEAA-- and Merchant; describing Jhab's take on what Ivory's news of Columbia's reaction means; describing Merchant and how much he has grown up in the last two years; asking if Ivory knows that Merchant has rented them all a cottage on Juhu Beach for May 15-June 15; updating Ivory on news of screenings of "The Householder" in Delhi and some international film festivals; telling Ivory that Satyajit Ray has won third prize in "the annual Indian film award thing"; suggesting that Ivory "just murder a few Columbia people, rob a bank, and come back quickly."
