Apologizing for not having written sooner, and commiserating with Ivory over the "Columbia-Householder business"; discussing in detail her thoughts on "the actor's film" [later "Shakespeare Wallah"], and the names for the characters to be played by Shashi Kapoor and Saeed and Madhur Jaffrey; elaborating on Ivory's and her thoughts regarding Merchant's typically "fearful letter," and reassuring Ivory that in real life, the moods he describes are passing things; suspecting Merchant will feel much better when Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal are back in Bombay to keep him company; observing "What a lot of locations that actors film ... is going to have!"
