Summary
Mentioning the "terrible news" of JFK's asassination; saying she hasn't yet seen Ismail Merchant, who is back in Bombay, but hopes to soon-- but they did speak during a "3-minute telephone call last Saturday," during which they could hardly hear one another; repeating the advice she wrote to Merchant about not inviting "VIPs" to the Indian premiere of "The Householder"; expressing amazement that Ivory is still troubled by the negative review of "The Householder" in the New Tork Times (by Bosley Crowther, dated October 22, 1963), and advising him to take it in stride and even gratitude, for "he has blooded you and made you into a full professional"; discussing work on her new novel, which she describes as "unfilmable," and thoughts of working on a screenplay for Ivory soon; saying she has just received a letter from "dearest darling boy" Merchant, who will probably be coming to Delhi tomorrow, with Shiroor and Blaney; promising to write again soon, with word of Merchant's "adventures in Delhi."
