Relating that she and her husband "Jhab" have just returned from Bombay, where her mother-in-law was in the hospital after a coronary thrombosis; saying she is glad Merchant's father has recovered from his own illness; describing Jhab's dealings with "Blaney" and "Shiroor" at Columbia India; passing on an anecdote from her friend Mrs. Nuruddin concerning Nawab Singh and B.K. Nehru; admonishing Merchant to refrain from name-dropping to the various civil servant correspondents he is keeping in touch with in India; expressing more worries about her mother-in-law's health; describing her and her daughter Renana's disappointment over an aborted trip to England, due to her own mother's ill health; discussing her script idea and describing the decrepit British colonial hill-stations in northern India.
