Summary
Noting that this is her first letter to his and Merchant's new New York address; thanking them for showing "The Householder" (1963) to her mother and commiserating about the time the film "didn't turn up"; citing a letter that appeared in "The Statesman" newspaper and its connection to the Film Finance Corporation; thanking Ivory for sending a sachertorte and hoping it isn't "eaten by the postmen"; describing a recent encounter with a young Indian publisher who uncannily resembled Merchant; passing on sentiments from Jennifer Kendal, who "misses you so very much", as does Shashi Kapoor, whose next project Leela Naidu is campaigning to be in as well; saying Romesh Thapar received a call from Pearl Buck to appear in "The Guide" (1965), which he declined; encouraging them to get in touch with her friend Rana, who will "tell you in detail everything Mr. Nehru and Mrs. Gandhi and everyone said," and put them in touch with Mrs. Gandhi while she is in New York; she also suggests getting in touch with Santha Rama Rau.
