Commenting on various post-production issues for The Householder (1963), including Hindi dubbing with Harindranath Chattopadhyay and Romesh Thapar; discussing possible candidates to create the score, such as Ali Akbar Khan and Jyotirindra Moitra, and even Satyajit Ray ("The Maestro") himself, since he scores his own films, according to Narayan Menon; recounting a meeting with "10-foot Galbraith" (John Kenneth Galbraith); listing her recent social activities; describing her friend Khushwant Singh's experience giving a noted speech at the International Writers Conference in Edinburgh in August, much appreciated by Mary McCarthy; saying R.K. Narayan has departed for Puerto Rico, where one of his short stories is being made into a film.
