Summary
Commenting on the village where he will be staying and the beauty of the surroundings: "This Ffestiniog is as clean as the other is filthy; & its place amongst the hills is very beautiful ... the air seems fine too, &, so far as I am able to judge, the walks are various, & you can have them high & wild if you please"; writing that he will send a check from the "beastly Ffestiniog" where he has been staying, expressing his regret at the death of their dog Banjo, and remarking that there is a dog at the place he is staying "that beats all the dogs I've ever seen (except Dolly) for native humanity".
