Expressing regret that he did not write "the boy" (i.e. his son Edgar) on his birthday, mentioning family and household matters and visit to George Gibbs in Elstree he made on Sunday, referring to the Gibbs family as "nice people" and hoping that she may make their acquaintance soon; asking her to send a telegram if she thinks "the boy" is very ill.
