Summary
Expressing the importance of criticism and complaining that young people do not like being told "that there is something they don't know"; expecting to "rehash" his manuscript to make mention of Thomas Wright's "discoveries" and Ley's "Dickensian article on Mary Hogarth"; reporting his election as Vice President of the National Union of Journalists, which "will mean considerable travelling, and a good deal of speech-making" and expecting the Presidency in the following year; expressing excitement that his office will be in "my native city of Bristol"; noting that the "U.S. are affiliated to the International Federation of Journalists" but that it is unlikely that a meeting will be held there in the next year; regretting that he knows nothing about the Reverand Montague Summers but will try to learn something about him.
