Thanking Herbert for sending the "photostats" of "the chapter and references on Christina" saying that they have "helped tremendously on certain points" of her book; sharing that she and John (John Stephan, 1906-1995) have left the "pensione" (small hotel or boarding house in Italy) and now are staying in a roomier apartment "in the Palazzo Dario"; noting that the new apartment is "wonderful for John's painting" with its high ceilings and Northern light; detailing a trip to Florence to see "Cavalli's Didone - a charming 17th century opera", extolling the costumes, talent, and setting; restating that John's painting is going well, writing, "he feels so much freer, out of the tangle of N.Y. art politics"; updating Herbert on her progress writing her book on Sweden's Queen Christina; congratulating Herbert on completing his "Joyce Bibliography".
