Writing at length about how difficult it is to be separated from her for so long; saying that he has had to rest at home for two days and he is bored and lonely, despite the fact that he has images of her all around him; writing about the recent bombardments and the military situation overall; adding that he went with Eugène to see "les dames Morisot" who have suffered greatly during the siege and wish they were in Suzanne's place; reassuring her about his well-being and saying that the only way in which he is suffering is in the lack of news from her; instructing Léon to take care of her and of his mother Eugénie; sending love from all.
