Summary
Apologizing to Herbert for holding on to Herbert's submitted plays for so long, noting "I feel mortified about your verse plays" and that he has"no impression of seeing them"; sharing that when Herbert sent the plays to The Kenyon Review, the magazine "had a young man as our secretary" who went on to suffer a "nervous breakdown" and who may have misplaced the plays; asking for forgiveness, writing, "Can you think of anything we could do to make recompense for apparently having lost them?"
