Noting that he wrote Herbert a letter a few weeks ago, but has "good reason to suspect that it was not dropped in the U.S. Mail", so he is writing this letter as a replacement; detailing his job as "a graduate assistant at Reed, in the Humanities Department"; noting that Reed "like all other colleges" is experiencing an influx of students in the wake of the war; sharing that he has not yet heard any news concerning his application to Harvard; informing Herbert that his parents have moved and that therefore their address will be changing.
