Informing Herbert of his experience in Springfield, Massachusetts attending meetings at the Theosophical Society with "Mr. and Mrs. William Simpson"; referencing the rift in the Theosophical Society between those who remained loyal to the teachings of co-founder Helena Blavatsky and those who followed the teachings of Annie Besant, noting that "the Simpsons were pro-Blavatsky, which was to the credit of their intelligence, and so was I"; describing the process of writing a satirical pamphlet, "Humoresque" with Mrs. Simpson; detailing authoring a follow-up to "Humoresque" called "Confession of Faith"; commenting on an irregularity in the printing of his book "Winter-Burning".
