Thanking Herbert for letting him see a draft of Herbert's work; providing feedback on the work, saying "Of course I like it in its present fragmentary form, and shall like it much more after you've expanded it and given it more unity"; inquiring as to whether or not Herbert plans on writing "the novel" while on a fellowship; noting that he is "looking forward with interest to word from the fund, and shall be glad to do what I can to assure your getting the fellowship".
