Summary
Responding with pleasure to her expressed approval of Denis Mallory, the protagonist of his novel "The garden of lies"; confiding that his "disapproval of the book in which he appears" is owing to his suspicions "that if The Prisoner of Zenda had never been written The Garden wouldn't have been either", giving his opinion that his novel "Monsigny" (1903) was "a better piece of fiction", and hoping that the character of "Tommy" (from his novel "Tommy Carteret") finds "a corner in your heart if Mallory found one"; asking after a story she is currently writing and, should it be intended for serial publication, requesting tha name of the periodical it is to appear in.
