Summary
Thanking Herbert for the input concerning his literary magazine, Renascence; affirming his decision to follow Herbert's advice: "I think we'll use your second suggestion and let the libraries subscribe if they want No. 1"; telling Herbert that he enclosed the first two editions of Renascence with the letter, adding, "Your assistance has been invaluable to us, and certainly the least we can do is to see that you get the sheet from now on"; updating Herbert on the proposed cover design idea for the upcoming editions of the magazine; mentioning the editorial input of V.K. Emden [Virginia Kidd, American literary agent and writer, married at the time to opera singer Jack Emden, would later marry James Blish in 1947], described as "the girl who translated the Pound item for the first issue"; informing Herbert that the additional copy of Renascence No. 2 that he sent "is for the lady with the bibliography"; asking Herbert for updates on the "Gould-Laughlin petition"; reminiscing about "the Joyce petition" saying "if you have never seen that astonishing document it is worth your looking up - signed by everybody from Hemingway to von Hofmanstahal".
