Summary
A love letter in which he apologizes for having hurt her feelings, which he tries to justify by speaking of his difficult character and regrets for his past. He expresses the depth of his love for her, laying his soul bare. Speaks of her book Folles et Saintes (1844) and mentions her poems "Enthousiasme" and "A une amie" (both from Fleurs du midi, 1836). He includes a long excerpt from a letter he wrote to a friend.
