Summary
Writing that he pleased to hear that Balston's eyes didn't show signs of infection, hoping that his eyestrain will disappear when he grows accustomed to his new glasses, and remarking that he will want to read a lot during his "Indian voyage"; discussing his own difficulties with his health, stating that he still doesn't know what the matter with him is, that he is in the hospital over Christmas, and that the x-rays and tests have yielded no results; complaining that while in bed he "cannot do anything" and that "the detective story is the highest level to which I aspire"; mentioning the recent purchase of a "box-wood cupid, Louis XVI, which is absurd but charming."
