Summary
Acknowledging receipt of a letter enclosing a letter to Balston from Sir Anthont Wagner, concerning plans by the firm of W. & R. Balston to discontinue the manufacture of Whatman papers; explaining that an increase of 50% in the price of Whatman papers would result in the loss of "at least half if not more of our trade" and that "We should then be back where we started from with an even smaller tonnage to pay for even greater overheads."; adding, however, that they are "pondering various ideas for trying to keep the paper or something very similar to it available", and requesting that Balston keep that information to himself for the time being.
