Written on letterhead stationery from The Mourne Press, Newcastle, Co. Down, illustrated with a small woodcut landscape, with the address crossed out and "at Drumilly, / Loughgall, / Co. Armagh N.I." written beneath in ink.

Summary
Informing Balston that he has sold Brook Cottage in Mourne and explaining that "the upkeep of the place was rather a strain" and that help was "practically impossible" to get help or servants, briefly recounting the sale of their home, and commenting on the difficulty of leaving the house they had lived in for 25 years and the garden they had designed and grown themselves, while observing that he and his wife are as well as ever, his wife having "renewed her youth like the eagle, and is now so full of energy, that I can hardly keep pace with her; going on to explain that they living in a guest house belonging to some friends, and describing their new accommodations; writing that their children will be coming for Christmas and asking after various family members.
