Summary
Thanking Barbara for her kind and timely offer; sharing that at present, he is working steadily at his own diggings at the house he took jointly with Morris; feeling that he cannot think of moving at present; sharing that his doctor does not want him to return to London in the winter and to consider permanently moving to the country; wondering whether or not he wants to do this; sharing that there might be a moment in which going to Scalands is advisable, rather than remain where he is during the winter; offering to send Mr. Gilett money to secure the cottage should he need it, even if he might not wind up going there; noting that it contains a very desirable studio, but he does not know what could be done there in the way of work, and it might cause him more trouble; reflecting on how he has established an artistic "plant" that would have to be moved with him; deciding that if the plan is not too uncertain or fidgety, he would gladly avail himself of her offer on the chance of going to Scalands; hoping that she is enjoying her wanderings; sharing that he feels well, and that Christina's health is improving.
