Summary
Acknowledging a letter, expressing his satisfaction at learning that Balston is organizing an exhibition of works by the painter Mark Gertler, mentioning that he saw a "magnificent still life at the Leicester Gallery a short while ago", observing that "the dealers seem to be a bit 'wet legged' about his work", and stating that he hopes that the exhibit will revive Gertler's reputation as an artist; writing that he is pleased to learn of Balston's planned exhibition of books (with wood engraved illustrations) and informing him that he can lend copies of books featuring his own wood engravings to Balston for the exhibit, with the exception of Birds, beasts, and flowers, which he suggests Balston borrow from Gertrude Hermes.
