Summary
Informing him that he has received a visit from a "Miss Rosenau" (presumably art historian Helen Rosenau) who expressed an interest in "architectual fantasies" and the artist (Claude Nicolas) Ledoux, having published an article on the subject in the Burlington magazin in 1946; stating that she had wanted to know if there anything comparable to be found in England, and that he had, among other things, suggested the work of John Martin as a possible subject for consideration, and wondering if Martin was familiar with Ledoux's work; mentioning the scholarship of Henri Focillon, who "claims Martin as a follower of Piranesi"; noting that an original watercolor by Martin, listed as "Castle park, blasted oak in the foreground," is to be sold by Sotheby's on January 29.
