Summary
Thanking him for a letter of condolence on the death of Gaselee's younger brother; remarking that he glad that Balston is going to be a Staff-Captain and that it is "absurd that people with both brains and experience should not be used for the thinking part of the Army."; writing that the University is at present very dull, although they had soldiers and officers from the Cheshire Territorials staying over the winter; mentioning that "Mavro" (i.e. John Mavrogordato) visited him and tha he is going to Bognor to meet "Mrs. M.".
