Summary
Asking Balston if he will be getting any leave, stating that he has been "taking a little holiday" during which he has spent a few days with "Mavro [i.e. John Mavrogordato] at Bognor" where he met Mavrogordato's wife Christine, who he found to be "entirely charming", and commenting that he thinks him very lucky "to have got such a wife by unconventional methods", remarking that he would like to "talk over the whole business" with Balston when they meet, and noting that the couple seem happy and intend to take a house at Golders Green; asking if he had seen that "Squire's younger brother was killed?"; writing that he intends to go to go to Manchester to see a sister, then to Cambridge and to town before the term begins.
