Writing that he has been confined to his bed for more than ive weeks and is recovering from an operation; mentioning an article in the "Cornhill" on the artist Francis Danby ARA "a painter of whom I had not heard, with a mention too of [John] Martin", mentioning Balston's book on John Martin and the publication of his own work, "Forty Five Stories From The Dodekanese", referring to the kind visits and letters he has received from friends, and anticipating the return of John Mavrogordato to the college, discussing books he has read, including Edith Sitwell's autobiography and her Fanfare for Elizabeth, as well as Lord Dunsany's The year, looking forward to having David Dickey on campus, writing that he will return to work on the proofs of his book, hoping that Ted Dickey gets back soon from Germany, noting that he received a letter from John Hayward who is working on a catalog for an exhibition of English books.
