Summary
Informing him that he has been to see his sister (Margaret Benson) and that she is "at work upon the proofs of the book" and noting that Balston has probably already received them; conveying some of his sister's thoughts regarding the title of the book, including her desire to retain the "Red Cap" or "Red Cap Stories"; writing that his sister has objected to the publication agreement as she regards it as "disadvantageous" to herself and likely to eliminate the possibility of profit; explaining that his sister's health varies from day to day and that "the smallest matter is apt to assume undue proportions in her mind"; proposing, therefore, that he arrange to privately pay some of the publisher's expenses without his sister's knowledge so that they might be willing to "modify the terms" of publication "a little in her favour", and further suggesting that he purchase the first 100 copies of the book so that she might receive a payment earlier rather than later.
