Summary
Writing to discuss winter plans and her work situation; asking after Barbara; describing her work on her Sensitive Plant designs; noting that she had Barbara's "wild, desolate, and strong" sketch, "The Old Quarry by the Sea" mounted; describing her stay in Lady Byron's old home in Esher; discussing work ethic; noting that she has written to Gabriel Rossetti about a portfolio but has yet to receive a reply; finding that drawing wearies her eyes more than painting does; asking Nannie to tell Barbara that ths knows nothing of "Rosey and his Bride", referring to Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal, except that Rossetti may soon come to the Hermitage; hoping to hear from herself, Bell, or Barbara in the near future.
