Summary
Writing to Mr. John Chapman to share that a copy of "The Westminster" just arrived, prompting her to write to him to convey her regret regarding what she has heard from Barbara and Elizabeth Whitehead (Elizabeth is Barbara's friend, and the supervisor of the Portman Hall School); referring to the breakup between Barbara and John; remarking that she will see Barbara soon and that they are thinking of going to the country; describing Barbara as distressed in mind but well in body; sharing that Barbara's brother Ben (Benjamin Leigh Smith), as well as Barbara's father (also named Benjamin Leigh Smith), will not bother Barbara while she goes away with friends; wishing John strength and peace, and expressing sympathy.
