Poem printed in four stanzas composed by Teresa, Contessa Guiccioli, in celebration of the marriage of her cousin Marchesa Teresa Cavalli to Conte Francesco Sassi in 1818.
Passages of the sonnet have been indicated in pen, with an inscription in the hand of Lord Byron at left reading "Ask Hobhouse to translate this to you - and tell him the reason."; at right, annotating a passage which translates as "And thus cemented in its vows my heart which is of adamant does not yield to any force" Byron has written "150 volte" (i.e. "150 times"), and struck it out in ink.
