Summary
Responding to a request for information regarding a wood engraved illustration by John Millais for Alfred Tennyson's "St. Agnes Eve"; stating that he has no information to offer regarding the Millais engraving, but that he plans to visit the British Museum where he may find something there to shed light on the subject; pointing out that the engraving is dated 1854, "whereas is was not until 1863 that Millais, so far as is known, addressed himself to the St. Agnes Eve subject.", further stating that Millias made "no less than four drawings or paintings in connection with Tennyson's poem and the "much superior poem by Keats [i.e. Keats's "The Eve of Saint Agnes"], and stating that none of them are earlier than 1863; Strahan further points out that Millais was 24 years old in 1854, and that the engraving gives Millias the title os R.A.
