Sending her a copy of The Brothers Dalziel : a record of fifty years' work (London : Methuen, 1901) with apologies for the worn state of the covers, explaining that it is out of stock at the publishers, and expressing his pleasure at knowing that she will possess a copy of the book as she has "a keen appreciation of the art of wood-engraving" and has been "a splendid patron of the Dalziel India-proofs"; going on to state that his father and uncle never intended the book "to be a literary effort" with "no pretensions beyond the recounting of half-a-century's work by two dear old men, at a time when they were nearing the end of their days."
