Collection of correspondence and documents related to Colm Tóibín's novel The South, 1989-1992 : typescripts.

Collection consists of: 1) six letters from Marsha Rowe (editor at Serpent's Tail) to Colm Tóibín and one letter from Colm Tóibín to Marsha Rowe, on the process of editing the novel; 2) one letter from Imogen Parker (literary agent at A.P. Watt Ltd) to Pete Ayrton (publisher, Serpent's Tail), on contract negotiations; 3) one Serpent's Tail author questionnaire, filled out by Tóibín; 4) one letter and enclosure from Diana Shine (The Society of Authors) to John Hampson (Serpent's Tail), regarding the submission of The South for the Betty Trask Prize and Awards; 5) one letter and enclosure from Lucy Whitehurst (Oxfam) to Gaby Naher (Serpent's Tail), thanking the publishers for sending a signed copy of The South as a contribution to the Oxfam Bring and Buy a Million Books Appeal.
