Writing to decline an invitation to Gore's home at Lyndhurst, remarking that there is nothing so pleasant "looming in my future" as a visit to Lyndhurst as "my country, if any, will never be anything I am afraid but a flat rude foxhunting stretch of land, first rate for sport a paradise for men & the abomination of desolation for me", and adding, however, that no place "is so dreary to me as London."
