Summary
Written to Gore by a disappointed suitor and concerning Gore's daughter, Cecilia Gore (later Cecilia Thynne); stating that he has heard of the probably marriage between Cecilia Gore and the Marquis de Chasteler, remarking that the Marquis is a "happy man" to be able to offer Miss Gore "a good worldly position", and that with him, "she could have had no position worthy of her,- we should have been allowed just enough to have kept us out of the Union workhouse."; expressing his great concern for her happiness, his grief at the end of all prospects for their future together, and his hope that her marriage may secure the happiness he wishes for her.
