Signed "Sophie ..." (the remainder of the signature illegible); handwriting, signature, and armorial wax seal strongly suggest the identity of the writer to be Sophie of Württemberg.
Address panel postmarked (no year) with armorial seal, and addressed, "Mrs Gore / Bruxelles".
Gore's novel, "The debutante," first appeared in 1846.
