Summary
Explaining that he received her note to him too late to visit her and that he will not be back in London until the meeting of Parliament, inviting her to visit should she be in town, asking if anything has been done in the matter of Strahan & Co. (i.e. the failed banking firm of Strahan, Paul, and Bates) and whether she has "been to poke your parasol through the bars in Paul's face?" and admitting that he feels "a barbarous exultation in the fate of that hypocritical saint-sinner."
