Apologizing for his neglect of her, writing that he has been ill and unable to attend to his professional duties, including meetings of the Royal Academy Council; informing her that he is currently staying at the Bristol Hotel in Brighton where he is trying to be less timid", but that North Easterly winds keep him indoors; and asking her to tell Lady E.P. to return the books Mrs. Gore sent him "which she borrowed to lend to a learned grey Lord."
