Summary
Remarking on seeing Catherine leave a party that did not appear to be a success; expressing her general lack of enthusiasm for society, remarking that "since this illusory & illusive Melbourne Dynasty, I cannot say I care a d--- whether there are ten people or one in the room", although she is always glad to see Gore; naming several people she has evidently invited to an outing to Greenwich(?) and noting whether they have accepted or not, writing that it a matter of complete indifference to her "whether we do it or no" and adding "I laugh & talk & am amused - but I don't really live amongst you all" and that she was ready to "cut my own throat" on their Richmond day, "thinking of Sir Neil, the steamer from Scotland, & my boys", remarking that she will probably be composing a letter to Sir W. Follett while they are at Greenwich, "but no one will find it out", and stating "if you don't wish to go, let us give it up - if you do I mean if Cissy does, let us go & I enclose a note to Granston"; asking if Cissy has received a ticket for "Monday's great launch".
