Summary
Declining an invitation; writing that he has been very busy "delivering lectures to the Athenaeum, who, under my hand have been, like Audrey -'made poetical' at least I have given them an ample dose of the poets of this century and horrified all their 'very proper' intellects with my views of 'Shelley'"; warning her that he intends to ask her for a donation for "poor Moores monument"; sending his regards to "Miss Gore" and adding "tell her that Franszetta's song is to appear immediately", asking Catherine Gore to send him a "proper dedication" for it, stating that he will "veil it under the 'author of Cecil'", and asking "shall I say author or authoress?"; relating an ancedote concerning (James) Corry Conellan, who, when asked if he knew anyone at the St. Patrick's Ball, replied "almost everyone, you surely forget how long I have been inspector of prisons."
