Stating that as he wishes someone in Paris to "know the real facts of a case on which so much calumny has been wasted" (probably a reference to the scandal occasioned by his estranged wife's novel "Cheveley, or the Man of Honour" a satirical attack on him that had been published the previous year), he asks that she look over the enclosed a letter he has written "addressed to Lady B's [illegible]" and return it to him the following morning.
