Summary
Complaining that he has been suffering with rheumatism and informing her tha he has, at his request, forwarded Gore's play (Dacre of the South) to Mr. (Coventry) Patmore; giving his opinion that, although Drury Lane Theatre would be happy to perform Dacre, the management "wants a hero" and he does not believe they have anyone in the company appropriate for the title role, suggesting that Covent Garden might be better for the play, that "Anderson, a young actor of much energy, would do good justice to Dacre", and offering to serve as a "means pf communication" between herself and the management of Covent Garden should she decide to offer them the play, as he knows the parties involved; adding that the alterations "necessary in the piece, are very few, and easily effected."; stating with regret that he must defer his planned visit to Paris, and praising her contributions to the collection of essays entitled "The Heads of the People" ("your beautiful paper, The Mute, has been much quoted here").
