Summary
Remarking that he and Mrs. Helps have left their children engaged in sketching Corfe Castle; thanking her for the grouse and the "Queen Anne's pocket melon"; writing that he would like to call on her tomorrow, but "if it is a bore to you to see people, say 'not at home' decisively"; adding that he took one of her books with him to read on the journey and that he "liked it much", saying "All your books are full of life, which is a great merit in my eyes. You must have an immense amount of animal spirits to draw upon. That is one of Nature's best gifts, I think"
