Summary
Expressing her amazement and sorrow at hearing of the death of the wife of George Curzon and asking for further information on the cause of her death; remarking that "there is a terribe lot of illness about" and that her doctor had told her directly that "the inflammation I called him in for was so severe that I might have been carried off in 24 more hours had it not been controlled"; relating how she had gone out the previous day and left her two little dogs in the care of the maid, only to find one of them dead after her return home from a kick the maid had evidently given the dog in the head; discussing their financial straits and the prospect of giving up "the Paris apartment".
