Summary
Informing her that he will not be able to attend her party. He was part of the funeral procession of (François-Charles?) Dulong, which badly affected his already delicate health [lungs]. His doctor has ordered peace and quiet and has forbidden his going to long parties and get-togethers with many other people. He wishes to thank her for all she did for his protégée. He hasn't seen her for a long time and presumes that, thanks to Catherine Gore, she has found some kind of work. He thanks her for sending her the address of Monsieur (Julian Ursyn) Niemcewicz, whom he will soon visit.
