Summary
Saying that he was glad to finally hear from her and to have news from their worthy Niemcewicz. He didn't know how to acquire news of her or him and was worried about their health. He thanks her for her invitation, but he will not be able to attend. Her dinners frighten him: all those English people whom he cannot understand since he doesn't speak English. He never wished to go to England because he wouldn't be able to understand common or educated speech. In a P.S., he says he is going to visit the great Polish poet (i.e. Niemcewicz) whom they both know and whom he thanks for not forgetting him entirely.
