Consisting of: 1) a signed letter from Louis Simpson to Charles Ryskamp (Director of the Morgan Library), dated November 9, 1978 and written from Port Jefferson, NY, offering the material to the Morgan Library; 2) a cover sheet, also signed and dated November 9, 1978, describing the material; 3) typescripts and manuscripts of versions of the poem (14 pages), heavily annotated; 4) a letter from the New Yorker poetry department to Louis Simpson, dated November 6, 1978, returning the manuscript of "Searching for the Ox," which appeared in the November 19, 1975 issue; 5) the typescript of "Searching for the Ox" (9 pages), marked up for publication in the New Yorker.
